Nature was my first home.
I'm Sophia, the founder of Velorela.
I grew up in the mountains, in the forest my parents managed. Nature was more than somewhere to visit; it was home. We later moved to the city for my education. As I grew older, camping became my way of returning to that familiar sense of belonging.
A small idea on the way back to camp.
On one camping trip, my return took longer than expected. It was getting dark, and my phone had accidentally fallen into water. With a trekking pole in one hand and things to carry in the other, holding a flashlight was awkward. To see the ground, I kept looking down to direct my headlamp.
I wondered: what if the pole could light the path underfoot, while the headlamp lit the way ahead?
My design studies had taught me to explore ideas by making things. I attached a small lamp to my pole. That simple experiment showed me what was possible, and how much the details of an everyday piece of gear could affect an outdoor experience.
Practical gear, shaped by real experiences.
I went on to work in a camping gear factory, learning how products move from design to production. That experience became the foundation for Velorela, the products I select, and the manufacturing partners we work with. An illuminated trekking pole was one of the products I later chose to bring into our collection.
Velorela first reached customers through in-person sales. Our online store brings that product experience and the same purpose to more outdoor enthusiasts: less fuss with gear, more time enjoying the outdoors.
From lighting and resting to carrying and packing, we focus on practical details that help you spend less time managing equipment and more time with the places and people around you.
A shared home worth caring for.
Nature gave me my first home. As Velorela grows, I plan to dedicate a portion of our profits to supporting nature conservation. Once we begin donating, we will share the projects we support, our contributions, and our progress.
